Great to see that the Milton Keynes Housing Delivery Test Action Plan has been shortlisted for an award under the ‘Planning for Increased Housing Delivery’ category as part of the 2019 Planning Awards. This is in addition to the plan being also shortlisted for the RTPI Planning Excellence Awards earlier in the year.
Hyas delivered a package of support to a number of pilot Authorities through the Planning Advisory Service (PAS) to help evolve a range of Action Plans in advance of the formal introduction of the Housing Delivery Test. Our team worked closely with Authorities across the country to help evolve a range of Action Plans set within different local contexts.
Milton Keynes Council were one of the pilot Councils and Hyas worked closely with officers to put together an Action Plan based upon key themes and actions to set out a wide range of initiatives that the Council were implementing to help enhance local housing supply. The work recognised the role that planning can play to stimulate supply, but also captured other related activity in terms of adopting a corporate approach to growth, considering how best to bring land forward and ensure infrastructure was in place to support development.
Good luck to Milton Keynes Council at the forthcoming RTPI awards in April and Planning Awards in June.
Our team would be more than happy to share learning from the pilot process to help other Authorities prepare forward thinking Action Plans, so if you are one of the 107 Councils needing to prepare one and not yet on to it, feel free to get in touch.
